The Northwest Seaport Alliance is governed by the ports of Seattle and Tacoma as equal members — called managing members — with each port acting through its elected commissioners.
Managing Members hold regular public meetings on the first Tuesday of each month beginning at 11:30 a.m. However, if an executive session under RCW 42.30.110 and/or other authorized closed session is to be held (e.g., under laws and regulations found at 46 U.S.C. § 40306, 46 C.F.R. § 538.608, 46 C.F.R. § 535.701(I)(1) and as authorized by Port of Seattle/Port of Tacoma Alliance Agreement, FMC Agreement #201228), the regular meeting may convene at 9:30 a.m., immediately recess for the closed session, after which the public session will reconvene at 11:30 a.m. If the regular meeting Tuesday falls on a legal holiday or on the day after a Monday legal holiday, in either case, the regular meeting will be held on the Wednesday following the holiday. Special meetings may be held on different days.
